Library tour – Ocotlán de Morelos

March 26@10:00 am - 3:00 pm

Next door to the famous Ocotlán regional market and “Frida’s Kitchen,” the LPP-supported library in a primary school is one of the most active educational programs in the region and in LPP’s network. In addition to on-site reading promotion activities, the school principal organizes an annual citywide event to highlight the importance of reading activities in the school to the broader community.

Two years ago, LPP participated in a huge parade and celebration, and last year, the school utilized library books and projects as part of an event to highlight the city’s well-known artesanía by involving children, parents and artesanos together in an exhibition of students’ work and masters’ creations.

The town is also famous for the art of its native son, Rodolfo Morales, an artist probably second in fame only to Francisco Toledo. For more information, CLICK HERE.

After meeting with the principal and reading for an hour with the children, we will visit the Morales museum and view his mural in the municipal hall.

Join us on this special tour (donation requested). A minimum of 3 people is requested and space is limited to 15 participants. For more information contact LPP staff at tour@librosparapueblos.org or 951 192 9600 (cell). Sign-up sheet will be available at OLL circulation desk until March 26 at 03:00 pm.
